Business Development is the ability to implement the strategy that was
decided upon bycompany
management. It is the ability to develop new niche, expand the product
range, recruit new customers and especially to always be one step ahead of
your competitors.
Normally when a new
company or new venture is established, there is no clear definition of the
responsibilities of the business development director, so the responsibility
is "allocated" on Executive Management or in other words, theCEO,
along with
a variety of other functions that do not exist in the company or project at
that stage of being.
Even when the company is
growing or has grown (yet the company is considered small or medium) the
business development role is divided between a number of employees, in
addition to other roles, it is not implemented by a senior employee whose
exclusive domain of expertise is business development.
